Mission of Advisory Board:


To bridge the gap between school and community with support and communication.

We are looking for members to take part in two different roles:



1) Athens Business Alliance 

A team of 10 – 15 members who work together to plan and implement career events for Athens Drive Magnet students. Business Alliance Planning members are the backbone of the organization, providing a critical link between the professional world of careers and high school students. Members typically meet monthly at the school to work in committees developing meaningful career activities.
Time commitment: 1-2 hours per month
Financial commitment: None
 The main events proposed for the 2022-23 school year include:


Mock Interviews – create an opportunity for 11th and 12th  graders to practice their interviewing skills by interviewing with business volunteers
Career Fair - a one day event in which students can interact with individuals from many business area.

Job Shadowing-
Internships
Industry Day


2)Athens Drive Special Events Partner:

The Business Alliance Special Events Partners volunteer to participate in select activities and events.
Time commitment: 1-3 hours based on the event
Financial commitment: None
 Events may include:
Career Conversations – speak with students about your career
Soft Skills Training- help train students in essential communication, leadership and critical thinking skills
Career Fair- represent your profession at the career fair
Resume Reviews - meet with students and/or classes to give a short presentation on resume development and review resumes
Mock Interviews- provide practice interview sessions for students
Job Shadowing opportunities for students -2-3 hour, short visits of your workplace by a student
Internships – In-depth work with a student to introduce them to your career. 135 hour participation with a student
Entrepreneurship mentoring- work with students to help them better understand the principals and practices of entrepreneurship

Meetings scheduled for year :October 7, Nov. 4, Dec. 2, Feb. 3, March 3, April 7, May 5, 2023
